Jams Part of the Way Through the Cycle

If the icemaker jams part of the way through the cycle, three things can be wrong.

  1. A chip of ice stuck in the mold.

This can simply be gently freed or melted out.
  2. A faulty icemaker.

Once any blockage is cleared, all icemakers should complete the cycle and refill. (Check to ensure there is power.) If this does not occur, replace the icemaker. Either the drive motor, gearing or an electrical component has failed internally. (For icemaker repair, See Manual 9).
  3. No power to the icemaker.

Check for a loose icemaker connection block or bad wiring. A few models have shut off over rides built into door switches and in the grinding mechanisms (Amana in particular).
