Saving time installing a GE Dryer Belt.

GE Dryer with top open for service   It is not necessary to completely remove the front of a GE dryer in order to install a new belt. Open the top and tilt it backward. Remove the two top screws, tilt the front forward and roll the belt around the drum.

Lift the drum slightly to clear the front supports. It may be necessary to open the door and help the belt fall to the bottom of the basket.
Aligning the belt on the basket Align the belt into the correct position before threading it through the idler and motor pulley.
Threading the belt A GE dryer belt must be threaded looking in from the back. It is not possible for anyone-except those with very skinny arms- to get past the drum in the front. It takes strong fingers to thread it with one hand.
Threading the belt This is a view of another model that threads essentially the same way. The first model uses the flexed bar as a spring; the second actually uses a spring. Eliminating the spring is a more recent design.
