Replacing an Amana Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor

Fan removed from freezer  All the food is out and the back wall removed. This fan was squealing and going slowly. The food was cold in the freezer but not in the fresh food side.
Matching up a universal Gemline motor Universal motors work fine on odd installations such as this one. It is essential to get the rotation right. (See Refrigeration Manual for details. Note the copper wire in the motor housing.)
Matching the hardware Universal motors come with various screws and studs to fit nearly every application. Here the brass standoffs are being installed to match the original motor before reinstallation. Shaft lengths can be altered by using pregrooved break points.
